Due to to an unexpected illness, conductor Zubin Mehta cannot come to China and perform as scheduled. He wishes to issue his deepest apologies to the Chinese fans via the the NCPA (National Centre for the Performing Arts).

To ensure the performances can proceed as scheduled, after due consideration, the conductors and programmes of the opera Falstaff on December 3rd, 6th, 8th and 10th, and the two concerts of the China NCPA Orchestra on December 5th and 9th will undergo the following changes:

The opera Falstaff co-produced by the NCPA and Wiener Staatsoper to be staged at the NCPA Opera House on December 3rd, 6th, 8th and 10th will be conducted by Renato Palumbo.

Shao-Chia Lü will be conductor of the two concerts: 1) “China NCPA Orchestra: Grieg and Tchaikovsky with Shao-Chia Lü and Serena Wang” on December 5th (Tuesday) at the NCPA Concert Hall, and 2) “China NCPA Orchestra: A Hero's Life - A Night of R. Strauss with Shao-Chia Lü and Kristin Lewis” on December 9th (Saturday) at NCPA Concert Hall. Additionally, in the first half of the concert on December 9th, the programme Richard Strauss’s Till Eulenspiegels Lustige Streiche will be changed to Richard Strauss’s “Introduction”, from Opera Capriccio. The soloists, singers and other programmes of the two concerts will remain the same.
